I HAPPY – U HAPPY – WE HAPPY – Doesn’t it sound Simple and Achievable? So what’s the big Deal??

It was 7.45 a.m. and I had just missed the Kalyan train. The trains were running late that day.  I chanced upon this lady who was accompanied with her two kids.  If what I guessed was right, the kids were around 8 and 5 yrs.  There was a strange sense of satisfaction and happiness on her face. Her kids were so happy at the thought that they were travelling in the so called electric train.  I am sure they must have come from some nearby village and they would have been visiting Mumbai for the first time.
The lady appeared very simple to me and came from a very very normal financial background.  They were enjoying the journey in the train. The mother removed a small packet from her cloth bag and the kids shared that eatable.  It took me back memory lane and I was reminded of those humble times and journey where I am sure most of us are from.
I immediately tried to relate it to the modern day kids who are showered with gifts and the latest gadgets and I am sure there would be very few who are even grateful for the luxurious lifestyle that they have been blessed with.   It is definitely not my intention to generalize the kids and teens of today, but somewhere I felt that many of us have forgotten what brings us happiness.  In the past even the simplest of things brought us pleasure and excitement. Most of us and our families are bombarded with the choicest of material things but we are still lacking something.  I am not quite sure whether the vacuum that is created in most of our lives is the result of so much of comfort and lavishness.  I fail to understand, but would appreciate if anyone could ping me at iyerrekharavi@gmail.com and let me gather my thoughts. There are people who are happy for no reason absolutely and looking at them, we feel happy.  It reminds us that our sole and soul purpose in this LIFE is to be happy and we are exactly on this wonderful planet at this designated time and space to be happy.
If we thought that only bigger cars, bigger houses and foreign trips brought us happiness, then we do not even know what happiness is about. In simple words, it’s being with our family, laughing over silly jokes, sharing the day’s events with our family, spending time with school friends and last but not the least; kissing good night and sleeping peacefully without bothering about the stocks and shares and of course about the BEAR market and the BULL market.
This is so wonderful!  If you have not done these over the last few months, then you could do this even NOW -  it is still not too late.

Luv
Rekha
P.S : Try identifying the small things that brought happiness to you and you will realise that these are in fact the big things that will keep you happy forever.
