Whoever thought that beauty
and perfection were the same may not be right is what I feel. These are too
separate qualities. With a lot of media
hype and internet awareness, many people now are aware of the latest trends in the
fashion and beauty world. Many of us try
and want to ape all those models who walk the ramp minus the SMILE. But take a minute, oh! Not even a minute, just
take a second to practically think if we would be able to do that. I am not
trying to discourage anyone who wants to do it, but c’mmon we need to
be comfortable in our skin to do it. This is the same manner that the models
would feel if they had to juggle home and office work (the way we do) not to
forget, the smile which we have when we do all this. Yes, this simply means
that one size does not fit all for sure.
I visited one of the malls
last evening with an intention to buy some stuff for me and my daughter. I happened to look round for something that
would fit me when I saw one woman who was finding it difficult to choose
something and she actually felt lost. She
happened to look at me and there was an immediate smile. I smiled back and she came up to me to ask as
to what she should buy as she was going out on a tour wherein she had to wear
western clothes. From the look of her
face, I realized that never in her life she would have worn those clothes. We
have grown up seeing out mothers and aunts dressed in the traditional Indian
attire like the saree (six yard wonder) or the chudidar/salwar kameez. We found them beautiful right !!! But with so
many new ideas creeping our minds, we somehow want to ape or want to look ten
years younger than our age. There is
nothing wrong in that for sure, as I myself would recommend everyone to try out
new clothes and outfits, “As long as they suit us and they are comfortable to
be in”. We may end up buying outfits
wherein we end up looking like a tent and this happens when we do not even understand
our body type.
With a little confidence
and the way you carry yourself, it is possible to look beautiful and even
though you may not be perfect, you are simply good. Trust me, there is only one YOU, no one can
take your place and never underestimate yourself.
I tried telling the woman
to go in for something Indo Western wherein she will not look completely out of
place and she also will be able to carry it off well with her body type. I was happy last evening that I could
convince someone that SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL.
Love your body and treat
it with respect. She will never let you
down and make you look as beautiful as you are both INSIDE OUT.
Luv
Rekha
