All of us love our homes for sure. It is our abode of calmness, serenity, peace – you may call it anything. It is a place where you come back after a hard day’s work and simply want to curl and relax. We come back to our homes and we have our families as shock absorbers who are there to understand us most of the times.
With Diwali fast approaching we need to get geared up and make space not only in our homes but also in our hearts. Try and get rid of clutter as much as possible as clutter can be quite a depressing thing. Everytime I do the spring cleaning of my home, I feel completely rejuvenated and feel fresh. It is important that we try and get potted plants at home. Greenery inside our homes can make our homes look fresh and inviting. Moreover, when your home is cleaner, it also has a healing touch.
One thing that I ensure before going to bed and will also recommend is to avoid watching any kind of depressing and violent programs on television, the reason being, we tend to take back the last memories into our subconscious minds and if you have seen something that is not peaceful, then you will surely get up with a bad headache. Don’t forget to do your 10 minute silence – just reminding you.
Make sure to always light incense sticks and if possible have fresh flowers at your entrance. My grandmother always used to say that when you have a clean entrance with a rangoli, Goddess Lakshmi enters our home. She likes to enter homes that are clean and have a good aroma. So make sure to do these small things and you will see wonderful changes. I feel wonderful doing all these little things as it gives me a lot of satisfaction.
So happy cleaning and get rid of unwanted stuff from your homes, there are hardly 3 weeks for Deepawali, make sure your home is clean and neat to invite the Goddess.
Luv
Rekha
