Hugging – The high potency multivitamin, free of cost

Everyone loves to be hugged!  This is absolutely true and if someone is denying it, it simply means that they have never been LOVED in their life.  But it is still not too late, you can definitely hug someone and make them feel special.  A bear hug is something that is absolutely wonderful and it surrounds our entire physical as well as mental body with lots of positive energy.   I feel completely energised when my daughter hugs me and I am so happy and feel good.  It helps us stay connected and it is simpler to connect with her and this is more so if you have teenaged kids. When we are infants and growing up, our parents have hugged us and kissed us.  Why is it that when we grow up to be parents, we tend to somehow forget our aged parents and it is on very rare occasions that we even touch them.  Knowingly or unknowingly, we are not too physical when it comes to showering a kiss on a simple hug.  Considering the Indian society we are living in, hugging and kissing is not in our culture, but don’t you think it is wonderful to kiss and hug our parents. The reason is more scientific, the potency of the positive hormones that are generated in our body are 1000 times more than the 1 multivitamin tablet that our parents gulp down.

I realised this few years back and made it a practice to hug my parents and my inlaws as well.  I feel they become child like when they are hugged and they get emotional about it.  The reason is that they are feeling so good about that special touch and love. Express your love with hugs, it definitely comes free and you will be happy you did it.  It is never too late to begin, I can assure you that.  In the beginning, you may feel a little out of place, because you have never done it.  But TRUST me, you too will feel good about it.  So you could simply begin by holding their palms and then later it becomes much easier and simpler.
I remember when I was a school going kid, my father used to carry me and I have several of those black and white memorabilia photographs with him.  This time, when he had come home, I kissed him on his cheek and he was like a child smiling and he actually felt shy that I did it. But I was happy as I could sense that he felt good for some reason. The reason was that he felt protected and secured.

When was the last time you hugged your parents?  Think about it.  If they are far away from you, I can understand, but if they are just around you, don’t waste time.  Even couples nowadays are so engrossed in their work life that they hardly get time with each other, make it a point to hug your spouse atleast once because she or he truly needs that hug during moments when they are down or not feeling good about themselves.  It could help them get closer over the years, and your kids also indirectly learn that hugging is healthy and it spreads joy and happiness.

So happy smiling and hugging, love your parents just the way they are, don’t try to change them and if they happen to throw tantrums, just be a little more patient.  They have shown tons of patience when you were growing up.

I love you all wonderful people so very much.

Luv

Rekha
