The 21 year old bundle of joy – JYOTHI – True to her name!!! Happy Birthday Princess

The 21 year old bundle of joy – JYOTHI – True to her name!!!
It’s been 2 decades and a year plus since the time this bundle of joy brought complete joy in our lives.  She is the light of our life, a lovely daughter, equally childlike in her heart, full of giggles and a complete tyrant as well (every teenager tries to portray all these qualities I guess).
To be honest, I grew up with her since I got her when I was barely of 21. With the support of my hubby and my parents/in laws, I too grew with her, The child in her and the child in me.  She was named Jyothi, Light – just absolutely true to her nature and quality.  Very naïve and just simple at heart.
When you are barely of 21 and just understanding the nuances of marriage, here comes the baby and you are taking care of this fragile little thing placed in your arms. When she smiled, I smiled, when she laughed, I laughed, when she cried incessantly, I didn’t know why the heck she was crying.  I remember the day when she had her first polio dose.  I cried much more than her and the doctor had to ask me to get lost. Am sure the little one would have wondered as to why Mommy cried (lolz).
So here she is… grown up into a matured little kid, definitely more matured than me (I take no credits for it). I no longer have to take up her homework, sew the button of her uniform or iron her stuff.  I have retired hopefully temporarily from all that work.  That means basically I have time to myself to pursue all the stuff that I once wanted to, but all the stuff that I frowned upon at one point of time, gave me joy for sure now when I think of it.
It was as if there was nothing more to be done, as she was growing up .  Simple school related jobs that appeared humongous  at one point in time gradually reduced.  I still remember the days when I would not tie her pony tail right. She would frown at me and also make a wry face when her white uniform (she was the PREFECT in her school) turned blue (not every day though), thanks to the Robin liquid which I emptied.  I can never forget Mondays for sure when the whites did not look like the whites and looked more like the sky blues (lolz).
Activities like covering her books to buying her school stuff, craft paper gradually reduced. God saved me and Maddy as Jyothi was brilliant at every project work most of the stuff that the school wanted her to do.  She got all her stuff related to project and did wonderfully at drawing, craft etc and with such finesse.  I am still not adept at doing calligraphy and charcoal painting like how she does.  Forget me, Maddy still can’t draw a proper straight line without using a scale (hope he doesn’t read this blogpost of mine – Fingers crossed) and if he has, he would agree to this as well.
So here’s wishing you and me a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY KANNA.  Love you loads.  The very point of writing this blogpost was not to make everyone realize about the love we have for you, but  this is just to try and figure out whether I am able to jot down even half of the feelings on paper,  The post has a lot of feelings and emotions and just written straight from the heart as always!!!
Remain blessed always and may you keep smiling and being the cute little kid.
Loads of luv

Mother Nature –Apologies to you !!!! SORRY TO YOU

First of all, sorry to you Mother Nature for having troubled you,  knowingly or unknowingly.  Why are you crying so much? Please be gracious enough to accept our apologies for the manner in which we have troubled you and JUST CALM DOWN. We are your children and we have committed blunders after blunders.

The downpour in Chennai is evidence that we have raped Nature beyond compare.  Please pardon me for using this language, but this is what is taking a toll on Chennai and all those places which have at some point in time affected with such downpours. We have friends, relatives who are stuck up in this massive massacred menace (if I may say so). Every minute and second that people are living is in fear till you stop this wrath of yours.

All of us are aware of the wrath of mother Nature.  What’s happened to her? Why is she showing her anger on her kids? Is she angry, is she sad or is she just taking back what we encroached upon? Even she is not aware. But I am sure as Humans we are.  But we beg of you to stop doing this taandav that has been engulfing our City of Chennai.  The city has been put to a standstill with roads, rail and air networks getting blocked. There are families who still have not been getting help, though there has been a lot of help from known and unknown people. The police and civic staff are doing their best. But in all this mess, the city of Chennai stand united. Inspite of all the differences in caste, creed and religion, we are one family.  We are the human family and as long as we understand this and live amicably, things are going to be good.

This also bogs down to the fact that we cannot take anyone for granted and most of all Nature who has only given us without taking back anything in return.  However, when the limit is broken, the dam breaks and there is just destruction.  Let us all vow and promise to act as decent citizens, rather be HUMANS and make sure not to cross the limits/boundaries when it comes to all the beautiful gifts that nature keeps showering on us day in and day out.

Luv to all

Rekha

p.s.  Just like how we say sorry to our mother, amma, aai, let’s all just say sorry with all our heart and I am sure she is going to forgive.  After all, She is a Mother

Are You Choosing the Right Thoughts From the Menu Of Your Life

Recently, I was at a restaurant with a group of school friends. There were giggles and laughter everywhere. The entire atmosphere was literally hustling and filled with happiness.  We were all just our selves, enjoying the time and the laughter and of course the food.

We had chosen happiness and laughter as our menu for the time we spent on that particular day(not  to forget the lovely food that was served to us). Few of my friends including me chose what we would want to have from the menu card that was given to us.

There was chatter that this is not very good and this could be spicy or this could be full of  cheese (with 40+ we need to watch our waists you see). So basically, we were all choosing all those dishes that more or less suited to everyone’s taste and liking.

This left me thinking.  When we enter a restaurant and wish to choose the menu, we are so particular about what we put into our mouths and of course our gut. We are cent percent sure whether our gut is going to be friendly with the food that is served or not.  However, we ain’t aware of our thoughts. We are at a complete loss of awareness when it comes to our thoughts about ourselves, our kids, our family, our society and so on. Isn’t it time to get selfish and choose only those thoughts that are going to elevate our consciousness.

We need to adopt  “CHOOSE THE MENU” policy here as well. Why would you pay for something that you do not like or wish for you or for others. Just think about it !!!  It’s truly worth giving a thought to ! What is the menu that you are choosing right now to happen to you in your lives!! Everyone is going to choose happiness, good health, wealth, joy and bliss undoubtedly.  Would you want to pay for food that you do not like or you do not relish or is stale?  The answer is obviously a NO!!

Thoughts are magnetic and thoughts have a frequency.  As

you think thoughts, they are sent out into the Universe

and they magnetically attract all like things that

are on the same frequency.

Everything sent out returns to the source YOU

P.S.

90 times out of 100 we are the creators for the circumstances and situations in our lives.  So choose your thoughts wisely, live happily and never put it on AUTOPILOT MODE.

Loads of Luv,

Nothing like our 1840 Chaitime

Yes, you heard it right, I look forward to the evening Chaitime (oops we) and that’s exactly when the clock strikes 1840.

It’s time for the evening tea and the chairs are arranged perfectly to accommodate all the eats on the small table and no points for guessing that within few minutes the adrak chai would be adorning the table.

After a fruitful day at work, coming home and have the hot steaming tea is something absolutely orgasmic. Those of you who have the privilege to come home around that time and sip the tea will be able to relate to me perfectly.  Those of you who have not tried it, should definitely give it a try. It’s the least we can ask for, isn’t it?

With an assortment of goodies ranging from homemade snacks to our all time favorite (Anytime doughnut) we just love et al.  Not to forget the A-1 samosas (no one can eat just one) – so you know where all the passion for the evening chai is coming from.  The eats list is anything from dry snacks like methi khakras to poha chivdas, sookha bhel with finely chopped veggies and topped with coriander with a dash of lemon.

Nothing less than a gastronomic travel which our family delves into every evening totally oblivious to the clock that’s ticking in.  My family loves the roasted groundnuts that is stored in the shining steel container and the typical half roasted burnt aroma that comes out of the container everytime we dig our hands into it.  By now, you would have got a feel and the aroma of the groundnuts has mesmerized your tastebuds for sure.

Its’ Chaitime !!! Bye for now

Luv

“I am” WAYNE DYER

Yesterday when I was just browsing my cell, a piece of news flashed.

Wayne has left his body, passing away through the night. ... Our scurvy elephant will enjoy the other side."

It left me in a tremble.  I doublechecked to find out if the news was just a prank.  Sooner did I realize, that this was authentic, tears dripped down as if I had lost someone very very close to me. We tend to feel bad for people whom we have interacted with -  be it family, friends.

Dr Wayne Dyer, I have never ever met you in flesh and blood.  You have inspired a million million people through your talks on every subject from meditation to life to karma.  I am one amongst those millions of humans and you have made a difference to my life in more ways than one.  Yesterday, I cried unconsolably, firstly because that I would never ever be able to meet you in this physical world.  Second, because I always thought some day you will come down to Mumbai, India and I would be fortunate to listen to you and be a part of the audience, waving out to you. I related to you, just like how a student relates to a teacher.  Wayne, you have been a great teacher to me in last two years.  As I am writing this blogpost, I have your  book right in front of me ‘THE POWER OF INTENTION” with your face filled with joyful smiles, standing tall and looking as cheerful and graceful”.

Wayne you always said “ I AM” are the two powerful words of the Universe.  This blog post is dedicated to you Wayne.   I completely believe in these two words.  My day starts with your AW meditation and today as I did my morning meditation, I found it difficult to concentrate.  This is your power and so is the power of all those people who love you so much.   You said you looked forward to another new adventure – but I guess you are out for creating that special adventure in another world which I am sure is blessed to have you.

We can never ever forget you – Wayne you will be truly missed.

Love to you and all

Smitten by her presence and aura

It was their college reunion and there was a lot of noise and commotion, thanks to the students meeting after close to two decades and more.  There was so much to catch up on and talk about who is the “who” now. Friends who met after nearly two decades, some with the same smile, some a little too shy to open up.  Few of them had started balding, salt and pepper hair – you could find all the concoctions in that restaurant which was to hold the college reunion.

There were this group of buddies Jay and group (as they were called) in college - who always chilled out in the college and hung around the college canteen, who not only had their masti but also were intelligent and smart when it came to their examinations.  Then you had the nerdy group (Ananya and her friends) who wanted to have all the fun, but somehow wanted to just top the examinations as if it was the formula for Jeevan Safal”.

Ananya (Anu to say) was beautiful and attractive even then, but at times we tend to simply brush off our own beauty and chose not to be noticed. Always engrossed in books and the library (which was her first love) at that point in time, she was busy in her own world.

Then there were this group of real lookers who were always the gorgeous looking and drop-dead looks that one would really keep gaping at them (Dil maange more types)

There was this dazzling entry that she made at the reunion and Jay was dumbstruck, totally in awe of her presence and that radiant smile. The guys could not take off their eyes off her and were left stumped that was she the same girl who literally drowned herself in books.  Time flies, years pass by and little do people realize that people change.  Amongst all the crowd, his eyes fell on her, her instantaneous rapturous smile caught everyone’s attention. She smiled and giggled like a collegian with the entire group. It was that wonderful and spontaneous and the aura was overbearing and just enough to sweep a guy of his feet.  The elegance, charm, the smile, the outfit – everything was just too perfect and most of all she was just herself. A striking contrast to what she was in college.  The boring reunion suddenly got interesting for Jay and the place did not feel empty any longer.  When she walked into the boring room, it felt like sunshine.

To sum up the story, we at times tend to bracket people in a specific category.  But situations and circumstances change and people go through wonderful changes in their life, thanks to family, career and so on.  Last but not the least, people who really want to see life the way it is meant to be!!

Love you all
